UK Team at Belgium Open 2014, Schoten

The PSF UK sent the UK National Team to take part in the 19th Belgian Open Championships on 3 and 4 May 2014, in Schoten, near Antwerp. Over 120 competitors from 12 countries took part in the Tanding competitions. The PSF UK President, Mr Aidinal Alrashid, headed the delegation, with a team of three athletes in Male weight categories B, J, and Open.

Competition Report

Sean Kardar in Male Class B drew his first fight against Muhammad Faizul Bin M. Nasir of Malaysia. He fought hard but lost on points — his opponent went on to win Gold, and Sean won joint Bronze.

Vikram Lopez Y Royo in Male Class J fought Roy Miszalok of Pencak Silat Sigepi from Germany, winning to advance to the second round. He then beat Dutch fighter Nick Bos of Pencak Silat Bintang Lima via Technical Knock-Out in the first round. In the Class J Final, Vikram faced Malaysia's Azrul bin Abdullah and fought well against this experienced fighter, but lost the match — earning Silver for the UK.

Samir Ghanim, current Open Class European Champion, beat Thibault Lafoy of APSAHA in the first round, then faced Ferro Felix of Dutch club Satria Muda in the Finals. Samir won the match and took Gold for the UK.
